顎顔面放射線学分野（教室）の紹介
Introduction of the Div. of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology
教授・科長からのメッセージ
顎顔面放射線学分野のページへ、ようこそ。
私どもの教室は、新潟大学歯学部歯科放射線学講座として昭和55年（1980年）8月に設置されました。
初代教授には新潟大学医学部から伊藤壽介先生が着任され、平成14年（2002年）4月に伊藤教授が退官され同年の11月に二代目教授として私が就任いたしました。
平成13年（2001年）4月に医歯学総合研究科への改組に伴い、歯科放射線学講座から顎顔面放射線学分野に名称変更となりました。
一方、診療科については、歯科放射線科が昭和55年（1980年）4月に設置されましたが、平成15年（2003年）10月の医学部附属病院と歯学部附属病院との医歯学総合病院への統合に伴い、画像診断・診療室に名称変更となり、平成24年（2012年）11月の外来診療棟開院時には口腔外科系歯科（診療科）・歯科放射線科（診療室）として現在に至っています。
顎顔面放射線学分野では、歯科における放射線学に関する教育、研究、診療ならびに社会的活動を精力的に行っており、その内容としては診断部門と治療部門に大別できます。
The division of oral and maxillofacial radiology is divided into the diagnostic imaging section and the oral care section, and is actively engaged in education, research, treatment, and social activities related to the field of dental radiology.
診療においては、診断部門では、エックス線画像、CT、歯科用コーンビームCT、MRI、超音波診断等の画像診断モダリティを用いて、各診療科からの依頼を受け、口腔顎顔面領域の疾患の診断、治療方針決定、治療後の経過観察を行っています。
In diagnostic imaging section, we use diagnostic imaging multimodalities such as conventional X-ray images, computed tomography, dental cone-beam computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasonography to detect the diseases in the oral and maxillofacial region and contribute in the determination of treatment plans along with the performing of post-treatment follow-up.
口腔管理部門では、各診療科のがん治療医、看護師、薬剤師と連携しつつ、歯や口腔と関連する副作用対策を行うとともに、化学療法や放射線治療中だけでなく、治療後の生活の質の維持のための歯科口腔管理を行っています。
In oral care section, we take measures against side effects related to teeth and oral cavity, and perform oral management not only during chemotherapy and radiotherapy but also after treatment period for maintain the quality of life with the collaboration with cancer specialist, nurses and pharmacists.
研究においては、診断部門では、顎顔面領域の画像診断全般をカバーするとともに、口腔がんや頸部リンパ節転移の診断精度向上に研究テーマの力点を置いています。また、人工知能AIとRadiomicsの画像診断への導入、MRIにおけるT2マッピングや拡散強調画像、口腔内超音波診断装置の開発など独自の取り組みを行っています。
Diagnostic imaging section covers all aspects of diagnostic imaging in the maxillofacial region and focuses on improving the diagnostic accuracy of oral cancer and cervical lymph node metastasis. We are also working on unique initiatives such as introducing the artificial intelligence and radiomics to diagnostic imaging field, developing T2 mapping and diffusion weighted imaging in MRI and intraoral ultrasonographic diagnostic equipment.
口腔管理部門では、頭頸部癌の放射線治療を受ける患者における有害事象の予防のために、治療前や治療中、治療後にわたって口腔管理による摂食機能や生活の質の維持向上を目指したさまざまな取り組みを行っています。特に、放射線治療を確実に完遂するための口腔衛生状態の管理手法やさまざまな装置の工夫について、基礎的・臨床的見地から多様なアプローチを進めています。
In order to prevent adverse events in patients receiving radiation therapy for head and neck cancer, oral care section aims to maintain and improve eating function and quality of life through oral care before, during, and after treatment. In particular, we are promoting a variety of approaches from basic and clinical perspectives regarding oral hygiene management methods and various devices to ensure the completion of radiation therapy.
社会に対しては、歯科診療における超音波診断の普及を通じて、口腔領域に生じるさまざまな疾患の早期発見・早期治療に貢献します。
We eager to contribute to the early detection/treatment of various diseases in oral cavity through the spread of ultrasound diagnosis in dental clinical practice.
現在の研究テーマは以下のとおりです。
・顎顔面領域疾患の画像診断
・口腔癌の頸部リンパ節転移の画像診断
・超音波診断の歯科における適応の拡大
・顎変形症・顎関節症の画像診断
・AIとRadiomicsの画像診断への導入
・頭頸部放射線治療の有害事象とその管理
・口腔管理による頭頸部放射線治療後の摂食機能などの口腔機能と生活の質の維持向上
Our current research themes are as follows.
・Diagnostic imaging on maxillofacial diseases
・Diagnostic imaging on cervical lymph node metastasis in oral cancer
・Expanding the application of ultrasound diagnosis in dentistry
・Diagnostic imaging of jaw deformity and temporomandibular joint disorder
・Introduction of artificial intelligence and radiomics to diagnostic imaging field
・Oral adverse events of head and neck radiotherapy and its management
・Maintenance and improvement of oral functions such as eating function and quality of life after head and neck radiotherapy through oral management
派手さはありませんが、地道な縁の下の力持ちという大事な分野です。
Although not flashy, it is tremendously important field that is a humble and unsung hero.
