Title
To assist the WHO in strengthening the oral health systems
Outcomes:
1.
In order to maintain the WHO Global Oral Health Database, the WHOCC has presented information about the prevalence of periodontal disease in various countries, through a scientific review paper. This information has been updated in its the Country Area Profile Project (CAPP).

2.
The WHOCC assisted the WHO in writing titled "Severe Periodontal Disease" in the upcoming WHO Global Oral Health Report.
Activity 2
Title
To assist the WHO in integrating the oral health component in the WHO Healthy Ageing document
Outcomes:
1.
The WHOCC was involved in upgrading the oral health contexts in the Integrated care for older people (ICOPE), as an expert member of the WHO clinical consortium for healthy ageing.
2.
The WHOCC has worked to develop the oral health components of the Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO) Regional Action Plan for Healthy Ageing.
3.
The WHOCC has advocated the importance of oral health in the ageing population in Asian countries based on the scientific outcomes and evidence obtained from Niigata Elderly Cohort Study.

Activity 3
Title
To assist the WHO in the dissemination of oral health through primary preventions
Outcomes:
1.
The WHOCC has produced the "Framework for development of oral health policy and strategies in Myanmar," in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Sports, Myanmar, and the WHO country office in Myanmar.
2.
The WHOCC has worked with the WHOCC for Oral Health Education and Research, Mahidol University, Thailand, to conduct a trial for the development of a dietary intervention for the partial dentate elderly in Thailand.
3.
The WHOCC has assisted the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, in implementing a school-based fluoride mouth rinsing programme in Kandy district.
4.
The translation of the "WHO monography on tobacco cessation and oral health integration" into the Japanese language has been started.
5.
The WHOCC provided technical and financial assistance to publish "WHO implementation manual maps to combat early childhood caries".

Title
To assist the WHO in supporting the implementation of the phase-down of dental amalgam use in the Minamata Convention on Mercury
Outcomes:
The WHOCC has been conducting discussions with the WHOCC in Minamata about the strategies required to encourage the phasing down of dental amalgam use in other countries, through clinical management (particularly waste management), environmental management and public actions aiming at reducing or control the impact of the amalgam waste contamination.
Collaboration between the WHO Headquarters (HQ) and Regional Offices:
1.
The WHOCC provided technical information about the WHO Oral Health Workforce Questionnaire Survey (HQ), June 1, 2019.
2.
The WHOCC contributed to the South East Asian Regional Office (SEARO) as a peer-reviewers during the development of the online modules for the primary healthcare workers and medical personnel, June 22- July 10, 2019.
3.
The WHOCC sent Dr Hiroshi Ogawa to the Fédération Dentaire Internationale (FDI) for a meeting with the dental officer Dr Benoit Varenne (HQ) to discuss the on-going activities, San Francisco, September 4-8, 2019.
4.
The WHOCC sent Dr Kaung Myat Thwin to attend the WHO side event/informal regional consultation on the sidelines of the 11th Asian Chief Dental Officers Meeting (ACDOM 2019) to report the activities of the centre, Mandalay (Myanmar), October 24-26, 2019.
5.
The WHOCC sent Dr Hiroshi Ogawa to the WHO Clinical Consortium on Healthy Ageing (CCHA) annual meeting, HQ, November 21-22, 2019.
6.
The WHOCC invited the technical officer Dr Yuka Makino (AFRO) and jointly coordinated the special seminar titled "UHC and Oral Health," Tokyo, January 8, 2020.
7.
The WHOCC organised a technical meeting with the technical officers, Dr Hiromasa Okayasu and Dr Kira Fortune (WPRO), regarding healthy ageing and oral health, Niigata, January 24, 2020.
8.
The WHOCC provided technical assistance toward "priority medical devices for oral health care of diabetic patients" in the upcoming WHO Guidelines Series of Basic and Priority Medical Devices, on January 30, 2020.

Dr Raksanan Karawekpanyawong went the WHOCC for Oral Health Education and Research, Mahidol University (Thailand), to plan and conduct a qualitative study for the development of a dietary intervention trial for the partial dentate elderly in Sung Neon district, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, in Thailand, on 26th April - 8th May, 2019.

The WHOCC invited Dr Manabu Sumi (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan) and Dr Paula Moynihan (WHOCC for Nutrition and Oral Health, UK) to the annual congress of the Japanese Society for Oral Health as a keynote lecturer for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and oral health, in Shiga (Japan), on May 21-23, 2019.
3.
The WHOCC coordinated a technical workshop for the development of oral health policies and strategies in Myanmar, Nay Pyi Taw (Myanmar), from June 8-10, 2019.
4.
The WHOCC coordinated the first meeting for the Nay Pyi Taw (Public Oral Health Demonstration Project) in Nay Pyi Taw (Myanmar), August 12-13, 2019.
5.
The WHOCC sent Dr Hiroshi Ogawa to the global summer course at Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia), to provide lectures on oral health promotion, Aug 19-27, 2019.

The WHOCC sent Dr Raksanan Karawekpanyawong to the WHOCC for Oral Health Education and Research, Mahidol University (Thailand), to collect additional data for the development of a dietary intervention trial for the partial dentate elderly in Sung Neon district, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand, 24th August -3th September, 2019.

The WHOCC sent Dr Kaung Myat Thwin to the National Centre for Global Health and Medicine in Tokyo (Japan) for the 3rd Collaboration Meeting of the Japanese WHO Collaborating Centres to report the activities of the centre, September 6, 2019.

The WHOCC collaborated in organising the "Global Tobacco Free Summit" (TID 15th Annual Conference), in Tokyo (Japan), from October 13-15, 2019.
9.
The WHOCC provided technical guidance to the Ministry of Health and Welfare (Japan) concerning the provision of oral health assistance to Russia, on October 30, 2019.
10.
The WHOCC arranged a joint meeting about oral health in an aging society, with representatives from the WHO (WPRO), Niigata (Japan), on January 24, 2020.
11.
The WHOCC provided technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Welfare (Japan) regarding the development of oral health contexts in the joint statement for the WHO Executive Board 146, on January 27, 2020.
