WHO Collaborating Centre for Translation of Oral Health Science Japanese English

Activities of our collaborating centre were featured on WHO website.
In 2007, the WHO designated the Department of Oral Health Science, Division of Preventive Dentistry, Niigata University Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Translation of Oral Health Science.
The terms of reference of the center are as follows:
1.
Assisting the WHO in strengthening the oral health information system.
2.
Providing support to assist the WHO in integrating the oral health component into the WHO Healthy Ageing policy documents.
3.
Assisting the WHO in promoting oral health through primary prevention.
4.
Assisting the WHO in supporting the Member States in implementing the phase-down use of dental amalgam within the framework of the Minamata Convention on Mercury.

Satellite Symposium of 59th General Meeting of the Japanese Society for Dental Health
WHO is participating in a multi-center collaboration to revise and update global estimates of burden of disease, injury and risk factors for the years 1990 and 2005. Many WHO staff members are involved this project: participating in core planning of the project; providing access to WHO databases and providing expertise on specific diseases, injuries, and risk factors. The WHO Collaborating Center for Translation of Oral Health Sciences has also been revealing the epidemiological characteristics of oral health in different nations through the WHO Global Infobase, as well as WHO Country Area Profile Programme (CAPP).
