  1. Providing support to WHO in the adaptation of oral health elements into the WHO Healthy Ageing
    The CC will work assist for Global report on oral health and Life-course approach and population-based strategy.
  2. Providing support to WHO in dissemination of oral health through primary prevention
    The CC will assist for acceleration; control of free sugar intake, brief tobacco intervention into oral health, and fluoride mouth rinsing programme.
  3. Supporting WHO in the implementation of the phase down use of dental amalgam in the Framework of the Minamata Convention
    The CC will support phase down of use dental amalgam in countries.
  4. Supporting WHO in the capacity development in oral health surveillance in Member States
    The CC will assist for Global report on oral health and Oral health information system and integrated surveillance.
Activity 1
Title
Providing support to WHO in the adaptation of oral health elements into the WHO Healthy Ageing
Description:
The WHOCC conducted the following activities:
1.
Provide scientific information for oral health and oral function among ageing population based on the research outcomes that conducted in Japan, to develop oral care pathway for WHO Integrated Care for Old People (ICOPE) as well as oral health context into the initiative of "Healthy Ageing".
2.
Conduct longitudinal cohort study targeting at the ageing population (age 94 yrs) in Japan to investigate integrations between oral health and general health, to strengthen scientific evidence that supports the WHO oral health strategy.
3.
Coordinate online-based research to investigate oral functional status among ageing population in Asian countries (Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam), under the collaboration with WHO Western Pacific Regional Office.
4.
Coordinate a systematic review to assess the efficacy of oral health policy for ageing population in Japan (the 8020 Campaign), under the collaboration with WHO Western Pacific Regional Office
Outputs:
1.
The WHOCC disseminated scientific evidence to implement oral health components into the ICOPE, as an expert member of the WHO clinical consortium for healthy ageing
2.
The WHOCC hosted a webinar entitled on Oral Health Promotion for Ageing Population to increase the awareness of oral health for ageing population and to learn recent policies in global, regional, and national perspectives.

Activity 2
Title
Providing support to WHO in dissemination of oral health through primary prevention
Description:
The WHOCC has supported the following activities (mainly in Asian countries):
1.
Coordinate seminars and workshops to train the trainers to disseminate WHO Tobacco cessation guidance based on 5As and 5Rs.
2.
Produce educational toolkits for brief tobacco interventions into dental settings.
3.
Coordinate scientific seminars to increase the knowledge for controlling of intake of free sugars based on the WHO guidelines on sugar intake for both adults and children.
4.
Coordinate seminars and workshops to update effects of school-based fluoride mouth rinsing programme for dental caries prevention.
Outputs:
1.
The WHOCC has conducted a trial study with the WHOCC for Oral Health Education and Research, Mahidol University, Thailand, to produce a guidance for dietary intervention for the partial dentate elderly.
2.
The WHOCC has worked with the Ministry of Health in Myanmar, Ministry of Health in Indonesia and University of Gadjah Mada Indonesia, to implement school-based fluoride mouth rinsing programmes.
3.
The WHOCC assisted the World Dental Federation (FDI) to disseminate brief tobacco intervention in dental settings, and provided technical assistance to produce guidance book and toolkits on tobacco and oral health.
4.
The WHOCC hosted a webinar entitled on Life-Course Oral Health Promotion; Lesson Learnt from the Western Pacific Countries" and "Promoting Oral Health in Schools", collaborated with WHO Western Pacific Regional Office.

Activity 3
Title
Supporting WHO in the implementation of the phase down use of dental amalgam in the Framework of the Minamata Convention
Description:
1.
Development systems for waste management on amalgam use as well as for infection control to minimize amalgam exposure in dental settings
Output:
1.
The WHO CC continuously worked to advocate phasing down of dental amalgam use through numerous channels such as academic congress and seminars, in line with the Minamata Convention.
* The WHO CC discussed with the WHO CC National Institute for Minamata Disease to explore possibilities to conduct scientific research in development for waste management on amalgam use.
Activity 4
Title
Supporting WHO in the capacity development in oral health surveillance in Member States
Description:
1.
Maintain periodontal disease information (CPI) in the WHO Global Oral Health database.
2.
Provide technical input to the WHO monitoring framework of the global oral health action plan.
Output:
1.
The WHOCC presented the prevalence of periodontal disease by CPI in countries, through annual paper reviews. The information has been updated in the Country Area Profile Project (CAPP).
Other activities:
1.
The WHOCC sent Hiroshi Ogawa to the meeting for WHO monitoring framework of the global oral health action plan (GOHAP), HQ (Web) in January and February, 2022.
2.
The WHOCC coordinated a webinar "Life-Course Oral Health Promotion; Lesson Learnt from the Western Pacific Countries" in January 2022 and invited Dr Yuriko Harada (WPRO) to present "Promoting oral health in the WPRO".
3.
The WHOCC sent Hiroshi Ogawa to the WHO Clinical Consortium on Healthy Ageing (CCHA) annual meeting (web), HQ, November 2021
4.
The WHOCC coordinated a webinar "Promoting Oral Health in Schools" in August 2021 and invited Dr Josaia Tiko (WPRO) to present "Regional Framework for Nurturing the Health of our Future generations in the WPRO".
